HOIMA AREA

The Hoima area stretches from Mparo to Kahoora to Busisi and Bujumbura divisions covering a total estimated area of 158Km network. With 4870 customers, we serve 42% (as per resent village consideration) of the populations’ water needs and 5% of its sewerage needs with 103 connections. Water source and infrastructure

The raw water is abstracted from underground and treated at Kyarwabuyamba by Treatment Process. The water production capacity is 3000 m³/day and the water capacity utilization is 73%.
At the water treatment plant, the raw water goes through a three stage treatment process (i.e. aeration, filtration & chlorination) before pumping it to the reservoirs for distribution.

Sewer Services

In addition, the area has a lagoon treatment infrastructure. It has a capacity to treat about 0.792m3/d of waste water daily. The total number of sewer connections is 103

Water supply status

The average hours of supply per day are 10 hours/day. To cater for interruption in supply, the Area has two reservoirs, both located at Kikwite. The source of energy for water production is Umeme and diesel generator.

This water is supplied to our customer base which comprises of 4377 active, 493 inactive, 100% metered and zero unmetered. These are broken down into consumer categories which are Domestic Customers(3780 accounts), Commercial Customers 909accounts), Institutions 123 accounts) and Public Stand posts (58 accounts).

From these customers, the area bills a monthly average of 142.4M and collects a monthly average of 145.16M
