Mubende area stretches from Kyenda/Kitenga through Mubende Municipality to Mugungulu/Biwanga along Mubende – Fort Portal Road covering a total area of 450 Sq. Km. With 4454 customers, we serve 89% of the populations’ water needs and 0% of its sewerage needs. Our area offices are located along Kiwalabye Road, P.O. Box: 348, Mubende. Water sources and infrastructure

The raw water is abstracted from Katoma, Kacwamango Dam and Five Boreholes and treated at Katoma and Katabalanga water works by Conventional and Disinfection Treatment Process respectively. The water production capacity is 1920m³/day and the water capacity utilization is 90 %.
At Katoma water treatment plant, the raw water goes through Aeration, Pre-chlorination, Flocculation, Coagulation, Settlement, Filtration, Chlorination and PH Correction before pumping it to the reservoirs for distribution.

At Katabalanga Water Works, Borehole Raw water goes through chlorination before pumping to the reservoirs for distribution.
Kiganda Branch abstracts raw water from two boreholes and treated at Kalamba/Kiganda by Chlorination Treatment Process. The water production capacity is 480 m³/day and the water capacity utilization is 40%.

Water supply status

The average hours of supply per day are 24 hours/day. To cater for interruption in supply, the area has 3 reservoirs, these are; Kasenyi, Booma, Kaweri. The source of energy for water production is UMEME and Generators at Katabalanga, Borehole 2, Borehole 4 and Kiganda.
This water is supplied to our customer base which comprises 4019 active Account, 435 inactive Accounts, 4454 metered Accounts and 0 unmetered Accounts. These are broken down into consumer categories which are Domestic Customers (3,171 accounts), Commercial Customers (676 accounts), Institutions (119 accounts) and Public Stand posts (53 accounts). From these customers, the area bills and collects UGX.170,000,000/-
