IGANGA AREA

The Iganga area stretches from Musiita trading centre located about 12km from Iganga municipality in the west to Nakalama trading centre located 7km to the east, Nampilika area located about 5km to the north of the municipality and Nandekula - Bugbwe area located 6km to the south of the municipality covering a total area of 196Km2. Water source and infrastructure

Iganga Branch receives its already treated water directly from Rubaga reservoir in Jinja area from where it flows by gravity through a 40km pipeline to 4no.reservoirs in Iganga municipality and a tee off at Musita trading centre to 5no. reservoirs in Mayuge.

Bugiri branch abstracts water from 3no.boreholes located at Ndifakulya, Kirongo and Bugodandhala in Bugiri Municipality. The water is then pumped to 2no. reservoirs of 150m3 and 100m3 where its treated with Chlorine disinfectant. The water production capacity is 960 m³/day and current plant utilisation capacity is 42%.

Kaliro branch abstracts water from 2no.boreholes located at Buyunga and Buwalujjo in Kaliro Town Council. The water is then pumped to 2no. reservoirs each of 100m3 where its treated with Chlorine disinfectant. The water production capacity is 540 m³/day and current plant utilisation capacity is at 43%.

Luuka branch abstracts water from 2no.boreholes located at Bugonyoka and Lwanda in Luuka Town Council. The water is then pumped to a reservoir of 100m3 where its treated with Chlorine disinfectant. The water production capacity is 408 m³/day and current plant utilisation capacity is at 24%.
